About

Reimagining Ifa Knowledge for African Futures ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speaker: Professor Tunde Adegbola The current conversation on the future is overwhelmingly framed through Western technological and economic metrics, treating African indigenous ancestral systems merely as relics to be archived or preserved. This lecture challenges that dynamic, asking: What becomes possible when we examine Ifá not as ancient folklore, but as a sophisticated, living computational language? Drawing from his extensive research in computational linguistics and digital technology, Professor Tunde Adegbola explores how the binary logic, information structures, and algorithmic principles of Ifá divination provide active, conceptual blueprints for future technology and epistemic sovereignty. Rather than romanticizing the precolonial past, this session investigates a fundamental question for modern Africa: Does a true renaissance require inventing entirely new, imported systems, or radically reactivating the ancestral wisdom that has sustained the continent for centuries?
