About the role

International Alert Internship Programme 2026 is a six-month internship in Abuja, Nigeria, where candidates will work alongside experienced professionals in peacebuilding, development, communications, and advocacy. Applicants must be Nigerian citizens with a Bachelor's degree from a recognised tertiary institution and have completed the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. The programme offers practical experience in programme implementation, communications, and advocacy, as well as exposure to conflict-sensitive programming.

Requirements

• Be a Nigerian citizen.
• Have completed the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme and be able to provide evidence of completion.
• Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Be from, or have strong ties to, the Northeast, Northwest or North-Central region of Nigeria.
• Demonstrate a strong interest in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, development, communications, advocacy or related fields.
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
• Be proficient in basic Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrate willingness to learn and work collaboratively.
